Joel Gottehrer

Owner


Joel has completed his course work at International Sports and Science Association and National Personal Training Institute with 500 hours of hands-on training. Additionally, Joel received training at Equinox Fitness Training Institute with 150 hours of hands-on training. Joel spends time doing extensive research by reading books and attending seminars to bring the best services to his clients.

His experience: He worked as a professional trainer at Equinox fitness center for nearly two years and in Yeled V’Yalda Fitness Center as a fitness coach for a year. He then founded Better Health Studios in March 2010. He has worked with people of different walks of life including: arthritis ridden, fat loss, sport specific, youth training, seniors, and strength training.

All training and programs are designed by Joel Gottehrer.
Joel’s training methodologies are based on two principles:

  • Training that’s based on logic and/or is supported by research. It makes sense from a bio-mechanical standpoint before the exercise is implemented. Joel doesn’t accept the status quo or do what the majority does just because the majority does it.
  • We’ve tried it and it works. We’ve put our theories to use for years with all kinds of clientele and it works. If a new exercise elicits positive results, we integrate it into our training. If it doesn’t work for any reason, we remove it from our programs. We constantly evolve our training programs to elicit the best results in the shortest period of time for the largest number of people.

Andre Huete

Lead Trainer


Andre has had the privilege of working as a fitness coach for nearly 10 years and is one of the first coaches employed at Better Health Studios. He holds a certification in Kettlebell Concepts, IFPA (International Fitness Professionals Association), is a certified Pre and Post-natal instructor, Sports Nutrition Specialist, Personal Fitness Trainer, and holds a Functional Training for Sports certification. In addition, Andre obtained his license in massage therapy back in 2006, and has a firm grasp of human anatomy and physiology due to his intense studies during this same period of time.

His hunger for knowledge and understanding the nature of health and wellness leaves Andre forever unsatisfied with his current knowledge, always seeking more. He continues to attend school and seminars alike to better himself, for both his own sake and for providing the best service he possibly can for his clients. Today, Andre’s primary focus is on designing a holistic approach to health for each client, based on their respective needs and goals. Along with patience and empathy Andre’s objective is to teach his clients how to move properly, improve their nutritional awareness, and learn how to cultivate a fertile mind set in order to establish habitual change. Needless to say, Andre is a very well qualified, and valued member for the Better Health team – his clients would certainly attest to this.

Al Terrazas

Fitness Coach


Alejandro Terrazas has been a coach for over 6 years. His passion for fitness and health has been with him since he was a kid. Through the years, Coach Al has developed the expertise to improve his clients’ confidence, strength, power, balance and overall health, all based on their individual lifestyles. Coach Al has several certifications, and is on the lookout for more every year. His passion for learning is infinite, and that motivates him to be the best coach he can to every single client.

Coach Al is also is in charge of programing the bootcamp classes with a unique set of workouts that keep the clients entertained and exhausted at the same time. Even though Coach Al comes off as a strict drill sergeant when it comes to the bootcamp classes, he also has a soft spot when it comes to kids. Coach Al is the favorite of our youngest clients who come in for the kids class twice a week. His kids classes are packed with innovative ways to make kids move and exercise while fun.

Overall, Coach Al is a very passionate coach and his main goal is to let every single person know that they are in good hands. He is a powerful motivator, with the desire to help others by understanding that they can be the best at what they wish to do if they only focus on it a little every day. His favorite sports team is the Denver Broncos. He makes it a goal every single day to remain happy and positive, because: “Life is a playground, have fun with it while you can.” His favorite superhero are Batman and Superman and his favorite books are The Man Without a Title and The Power of Habit. His all-time favorite quote is: “He who says he can and he who says he can’t are both usually right.”

Yael Gottehrer

General Manager


Yael earned a Bachleors degree in Behavioral Sciences and has achieved a Master’s degree in Special Education. Currently, Yael teaches preschool students with special needs in a school setting. In addition to teaching, Yael oversees the ins and out Better Health Studios to ensure quality services to its members. Furthermore, Yael runs the gamut of responsibilities ranging from assuring freshly laundered towels to weekly team meetings to certify that clients receive the best in training programs, coaching, customer service and results.

Eugert Kacupaj

Fitness Coach


Eugert is one of the newer members of the Better Health Studios team. His love for health and fitness however, stems back many years. Since early childhood, sitting still was never an option. Going from soccer, to basketball to baseball – it’s fair to say that he’s been lucky enough to learn from some amazing coaches on his way to becoming one himself.

Although his formal education came at Binghamton University, focusing on Economics – Eugert took many courses in Health and wellness, nutrition, and weight training. And with years of experience with weight training and exercise under his belt, he is more than capable of helping you achieve your personal health goals. He truly cares about the struggles his clients are facing, including struggles with the workouts, diets, or anything else life throws at them, and he does his best to help. He takes a holistic approach to health, not only looking at how much weight was added on the barbell, or how much farther the client runs, but also how the client is eating, sleeping, managing stress, perfecting posture, and everything in between. Lastly, his philosophy is that no workout should be boring – no one should have to drag their feet to the gym. He wants all of his clients to be excited about their workout, and leave Better Health Studios feeling strong, feeling good, and feeling like they just took a big step in taking care of themselves.

On a personal level, Eugert loves to watch his New York Knicks, loves to play basketball, and loves to spend time with friends and family. He takes his health seriously and practices what he preaches.

Boris Gelfand

Fitness Coach


Boris Gelfand has been a coach for over 6 years. Boris is a Certified Fitness Nutrition Specialist, an Orthopedic Exercise Specialist and a soon-to-be Fitness/Physique Prep Coach (transformation specialist). Unlike most, Boris did not only receive his information from textbooks and publications – he utilizes what he learned from his own personal journey in his coaching techniques. In 2010 Boris weighed 262lbs – being considered morbidly obese with his body-fat percentage being over 35%. With proper nutrition and a strict training regimen, Boris went down to a very healthy 179lbs, with only 11% body-fat.

With a larger goal in mind, Boris began to intensify his training with hopes of competing in the bodybuilding world. In 2011, he became an NPC (National Physique Committee) National Level Competitive Bodybuilder in two different classes – Open and Masters. Because of his own lofty aspirations, Boris is tough when it comes to clients reaching their goals. He wants his clients to get the results and a healthy body that they can be proud of. Boris applies his passion for physical fitness, his interest in proper nutrition, and modern science to design custom fitness regimens for his clients.

On the little downtown he has, Boris loves to study any material related to health and fitness, and strives to learn as much as he can every day in order to be better equipped to help his clients reach their goals. Boris keeps a positive attitude at all times, and works hard to get his clients to believe in themselves.
